Have a wide range of responsibilities transcribing medical dictations, proofreading to ensure terminology is used correctly and appropriately throughout documentation. Review and edit transcriptions for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Transcribe medical dictations, reports and/or notes into report formats
  • Proofread dictations performed by speech recognition software, including formatting, inconsistencies, missing information, grammar, punctuation and typographical.
  • Use full forms of medical abbreviations, acronyms and medical jargon
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information

Skills

  • Proficiency in medical office practices
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications
  • Medical transcription fundamentals, medical terminology and medical record procedures
  • Electronic medical records experience
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals
  • Keyboarding skills (min.40 WPM)
  • Work independently with problem solving skills
  • Multitasking abilities

Educational Requirements

  • Recognized Medical Transcription Post-Secondary program
