Medical Transcriptionists
Have a wide range of responsibilities transcribing medical dictations, proofreading to ensure terminology is used correctly and appropriately throughout documentation. Review and edit transcriptions for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and clarity.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe medical dictations, reports and/or notes into report formats
- Proofread dictations performed by speech recognition software, including formatting, inconsistencies, missing information, grammar, punctuation and typographical.
- Use full forms of medical abbreviations, acronyms and medical jargon
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
Skills
- Proficiency in medical office practices
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications
- Medical transcription fundamentals, medical terminology and medical record procedures
- Electronic medical records experience
- Detail oriented
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals
- Keyboarding skills (min.40 WPM)
- Work independently with problem solving skills
- Multitasking abilities

Educational Requirements
- Recognized Medical Transcription Post-Secondary program
